Arts Camp Structure

Arts Camp serves children age 5 through late teens. There are 2 sessions for the youngest Campers, morning and afternoon (Primary, ages 5-8). Older children and teens meet for 4 hours in the afternoons (Intermediate, ages 9-14).

Based on feedback from families, in 2019 we started to offer an extended afternoon Primary session. Our morning session will remain 2 hours long, but the afternoon session will have an added hour of creative movement, making it 3 hours long!

Every day at Arts Camp begins with drawing technique lessons. The students then break into smaller groups to learn and experiment with different media guided by art instructors and their assistants. They typically do two projects per session, with a snack and break in between. The student to adult ratio is 1:6.

The subjects and media offered each year are in part suggested by the Arts Campers themselves. As there is high return rate of students to Arts Camp every year, instruction from one year to the next is a continuing process adding more depth and sophistication to the students’ knowledge, while also offering a variety of art media and tools.
